You can surf in Portugal all year round, and Lisbon is no exception. However, if you want to learn to surf in Lisbon, I'd advise you to come in summer, say from May to the end of September. This is when the ocean warms up and the waves are more friendly than in winter. This is the ideal time to go surfing in Portugal if you're a beginner or intermediate surfer. On the other hand, if you're an experienced surfer looking for a thrill, you'll need to go in winter, when the swell is more consistent.

Surfing Cascais is my favourite place when I go surfing in Lisbon, Portugal. It's not really in Lisbon but in Cascais, 30 minutes by car and less than 50 minutes by train (there's a direct train line). It's very easy to get there. Surf cascais is in my opinion the best way to combine surfing and visiting the city. There are quality surf lessons given by qualified instructors available for beginners and intermediate surfers.
It's the ideal place for solo travelers or groups of friends to meet other surfers and party in town after surf sessions. You can also enjoy yoga sessions at the surf camp.

In their 4-day, 3-night stay you get everything included, a surf lesson, unlimited yoga, unlimited surf equipment and a 45 min massage. It's the perfect way to unwind after visiting Lisbon. What's more, the food is delicious.

It's the perfect place for a surfing holiday for beginners. The rooms are very clean, simple and efficient. The local beaches are incredible. Nice Way Hostel is located in Cascais. It's an ultra-cool place, with a fairly young, relaxed atmosphere. They offer a 7-night stay with breakfast included, 5 surf lessons and unlimited surf equipment. They have barbecues in the garden by the pool, which is really nice. There's also a bar in the surfhouse. If you want to meet people and share a memorable experience, this is the place to go. Perfect spot for a group of friends, whether you're a beginner or an intermediate surfer.
